Mama June star Alana Thompson aka Honey Boo Boo, gained stardom with her first reality TV appearance back in 2012. Her pageant days in “Toddlers & Tiaras” on TLC in Season 5 marked her debut with her mom, June Shannon. The mother-daughter duo is renowned for their daring personalities, making them two iconic television stars.
Alana’s pageant talent allowed her to tackle another TLC show which is “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo.” This time not only Honey Boo Boo came into the limelight, but her family was given equal importance. The first episode, aired in August 2012, showed the hustle and bustle of Shannon, Alana, Pumpkin, Jessica, and Anna. While the show eventually got canceled, the family kept going to make it big with Mama June spinoffs.

Mama June: Why TLC Ended “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” With Alana & Her Family?
The ending of “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” in 2014 came as a shock to viewers. But Mama June was indirectly behind in canceling the fan-favorite show after two consecutive successful seasons. She had ties with convicted sex offender Mark McDaniel. The network released its statement to people, saying it had stopped airing the series right after the news.
TLC explained that they are committed to supporting the welfare of kids at all costs. To fans’ surprise, Shannon tried to end rumors claiming she was involved with the offender. Mark’s incarceration happened in 2004 after evidence surfaced about his alleged child molestation. She took to her Facebook to say that she has always prioritized her daughters over anything, and Mark is her past, whom she left ten years ago.

Though Alana no longer works with TLC, she is currently doing her reality TV stint with WeTV. June and her daughters got along with Mama June: From Not To Hot in 2017, which focused on all of them. The rebranding caused it to go under various titles, including Mama June: Family Crisis.
Family Crisis is in Season 7 and is running on screens with new storylines. Over the years, Alana had many opportunities to keep on with her fame. The former TLC star signed “Dancing With The Stars” in September 2018. She paired with Tristan Laniero and had training under Artem Chigvintsev. She came 8th in the dance battle.
