General Hospital fans, we have some very shocking news for you. As per the latest reports, Maurice Benard might be leaving the soap opera. As shocking as it sounds, all of this could be because of contract troubles.
The last time Maurice’s contract was renewed was back in 2017. At that time, he was about to complete his 25th anniversary on the soap. But, now, it has been some time since that happened. And the reports suggest that his contract is about to get over. Does that mean that he would actually leave?
Long-time General Hospital fans would recall, back in 2017, when Maurice’s contract had ended, he was very open about how he wanted to at least be on the soap for one year. However, he continued to be on the soap for longer than that.
But, since it has been some time, the time for that contract to get over is around the corner. If Maurice’s contract is getting over, the big question is, will it be renewed? The actor had self-admittedly said once that anything that can happen in negotiations. So, would he finally leave?
Given how the storylines are moving in the soap opera, it does look like GH is sidelining the mob boss a little. While his storyline with Nina and Carly was a central storyline up until now, GH fans have gotten a little bored with how everything is moving there. Not only that, Sonny’s son- Michael, and the whole family have gone against him. So, all of this could lead to Sonny leaving the soap.
While we cannot say that Maurice Benard would leave General Hospital permanently, there is a possibility that he might take a short break.
