Money Heist Season 5 is gearing up to return in summer 2021 with an ultimate showdown that will explore the fate of the Professor. The most recent finale left us stunned on the edge of our seat when the Professor and his team caught up heisting the Bank of Spain. Now that everyone’s identity has been revealed, it’s pretty thrilling to see how they would put up everything in the final run, as the showrunner said, “a complete power war.”
Money Heist follows the mysterious man called “The Professor” and his team of eight people. He and his group use code names to follow an earnest plan, including entering the Royal Mint of Spain and heisting €2.6 billion. Throughout the series, they met with challenges, but in the end, they somehow managed to flee.
Money Heist Season 5: Has Production Begun For The Next Run?
Money Heist is among those series that began its production amid the pandemic. In early July, we learned that the showrunner Álex Pina returned to write the fifth and final season. But it didn’t take much time to start the production. Shortly on July 21, 2020, Álaro Morte shared that filming began. But following the COVID-safety protocols, the other cast members returned to film the final run later in August.
All the time, the star cast never missed any chance to tease their return to the set. But in November we didn’t hear any news regarding the filming. However, soon the rumors surfaced that filming would continue till early 2021. Najwa Nimri shortly broke the silence by posting videos and pictures from the set in December. Well, filming continued till January 2021 in Copenhagen, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, and Madrid.
Money Heist Season 5: Who Will Be In The Cast?
Money Heist team will expand as the streamer revealed some new faces would join the final run. Sense8 alum Miguel Ángel Silvestre will join as the new villain for the fifth and final run. Speaking on his character, Álex said they always focused on bringing in intelligent, charismatic, and brilliant foes. However, in the case of the pure war, they were focusing on the characters who can match the Professor’s intelligence.
Besides Miguel, Patrick Criado will also join the team. Patrick is best known for his work in The King, Plastic Sea, and The Aspirant. Also, back in September, the streamer surprised us with the news of José Manuel Seda joining the cast. Seda is famous as an actor, writer, and director and popular for his work in Yo Soy Bea and directing 2005’s Tránsito.
Who Will Return?
Well, the entire main cast will return to reprise their role one last time. However, Nairobi, aka Ágata Jiménez (Alba Flores), met her demise already. But she has been listed to play a part in the first episode of the fifth season. So we can expect some flashbacks of her throughout the series. Besides, Olalla Hernández as Amanda, Fernando Cayo as Coronel Tamayo, Luka Peros as Marsella, and Belén Cuesta as Manila will also return.
Money Heist Season 5: What Will Happen Next?
As we know, the Professor and his team have been caught red-handed while they’re still left to execute the last stage of their heist. But the showrunner teased that the gang would push into a wild war which would be an epic blowout for them. He added they had spent the entire year coming up with a plan to destroy the Professor and his group. Now the war will reach its extreme, which indeed put the Professor on the ropes.
Money Heist Season 5: When Will It Air?
As of now, Netflix has yet to announce the official release date of Money Heist Season 5. However, as per the reports, Netflix has teased that the fifth and final run will land on Netflix soon in the second half of 2021. Till then, stay tuned for more updates.
