Pawn Stars: Rick Harrison Finds Marlon Brando’s Iconic Jacket & Ray Liotta’s Tuxedo

Rick Harrison, star of the Pawn Stars, was presented with a leather jacket once worn by legendary actor Marlon Brando by a seller. Rick immediately saw the jacket. “From the looks of it, this is actual wear, not like today, where they purposefully make something beat up,” he said. The seller initially asked for $15,000, but Rick countered at $8,000, calling the asking price too high. After much negotiation, the two parties settled on $8,500, sealing the deal for the iconic piece once associated with the Godfather star.

Another incident occurred when a man walked in to sell a tuxedo once worn by actor Ray Liotta, who portrayed Frank Sinatra in the 1998 HBO film The Rat Pack. Rick examines the tuxedo, noting its red lining and connection to Liotta. However, he called his expert to verify the authenticity, and the expert confirmed that the film had indeed used the tuxedo and estimated its auction value between $500 and $1,200. The seller initially claimed $1,000, but Rick countered with $375. He eventually raised his offer to $400 after some back-and-forth negotiations. The seller agreed, and the deal was successful.

Rick Harrison, the star of Pawn Stars, has again gained a collectible with a higher price. A seller brought a leather jacket signed by several NBA stars, including Michael Jordan, Scotty Pippen, and Patrick Ewing, to a pawn shop, hoping to sell it for $500. Rick saw the jacket and carefully examined the signatures. After much thought, he consulted an autograph expert. The expert verified the authenticity of the signatures and emphasized the value of the Michael Jordan autograph. Rick offered $600 for the jacket, which the seller gladly accepted.

Another iconic incident is when a seller came with a Charlie Chaplin hat from the 1928 movie The Circus. The seller presented a letter of authenticity showing that actress Gloria Swanson had gifted the item to Joe Franklin. The seller also mentioned that he will use the money to buy a 1962 Fender Jazz bass. Rick and the seller discussed Chaplin’s career, including his silent films and Academy Award win. The condition was not excellent; it had a split brim, no prop marking, and was worn inferiorly. Thus, Rick declined to buy the collectible, as he would not be able to resell it without proper provenance, leaving the seller disappointed. 

Another legendary moment was when a man tried to sell a hat that had belonged to Ronnie Van Zant, the lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd. He claimed he received it backstage at a 1977 concert. This was just months before Van Zant tragically died in a plane crash. The seller asked $25,000 for it. Rick sifted through it, acknowledging its quality and the story. He stressed that they needed more proof to justify such a high price. After a few back-and-forths, Rick offered $10,000. At the same time, the seller refused to go below $20,000, ultimately leading to an unsuccessful deal.

A seller once again brought Rick an original harmonica vest belonging to John Popper of Blues Traveler. The seller initially claimed  $4,000 but is willing to accept $3,000. The seller said  Popper had given him the vest personally during a show. Rick discussed its history and collectible value, noting that it could be worth around $3,000 at a rock-and-roll auction.
