Princess Principal, aka Purinsesu Purinshiparu, is a Japanese action anime series. It is an original series that did not follow any manga series. Studio 3Hz and Actas co-produced the anime series. Masaki Tachibana has directed this show that made its debut on July 9, 2017. It ran for only twelve episodes. The fans saw its finale on September 24, 2017. The makers released a mobile game in 2017 as well.
Princess Principal Season 2: Renewal Status!
The inaugural season of the anime series got tremendous from the viewers. The critics praised the series as well. However, the makers announced its second season. But instead of Princess Principal Season 2, the makers announced a six-part film series. The director of the anime, Masaki Tachibana, said that he would love to make the second season. But since they are not tight on budget, he will prefer to make anime movies.
He said, “Movies tend to get more funds to work with, so they can spend more time on scenes,” Tachibana explained. As opposed to TV anime, where you are on a much tighter schedule and cannot always perfect everything. In that sense, I would like to work on a movie.”
Will The Second Season Ever Happen?
As the director said, they would like to work on a movie, and they already announced a six-part film series. The first film from that series, titled “Princess Principal: Crown Handler,” recently premiered on February 11, 2021. It served as a sequel to the first season of the anime series. Therefore, the makers will continue the storyline but only in the form of films. They don’t have any intention to make the anime series. And it is likely that the sixth film will conclude the series once and for all. Therefore, it is very unlikely that the fans will ever see Princess Principal Season 2.
