Rick And Morty Season 5 promising trailer teased some crazy family time with a glimpse of a potential new love interest in Summer’s life. Since the series began in 2013, it focuses on the exploits of titular characters, while spoofing everything from Fantastic Voyage to Games of Thrones. However, Rick And Morty soon became a critically-acclaimed series for its unique narration and reliably funny formula.
But this time, the series is turning the table while focusing more on the supporting characters. Just like it did in the most recent finale, following an emotional plot for Beth. Well, the finale has its own separate fanbase, and now the creators are looking to increase the Smith family involvement in the duo’s journey. Even the trailer hints that the show will follow this trend to explore Summer’s love life.
Rick And Morty Season 5: Trailer Teased What To Expect?
Summer’s New Love Interest
Well, the trailer teased a promising growth that hints Summer could play a major part in the fifth season. It could also alter the original theme as the titular duo will be scrapped by focusing more on the Smith family. As we can see in the trailer, it all begins with a family adventure in an unnamed spooky forest which quickly switched to Smith’s place. However, it’s the right time to focus more on Summer’s lover since both Rick and Morty had their love interests in the past.
Even Summer’s increased presence hints that the creators would finally treat the supporting characters like the main stars. However, it’s unclear whether the person sitting in the backseat of the spacecraft is really her potential love interest. But deeming his age (as it seems precisely of Summer’s age) and the trio Summer, Morty, and the mysterious man are on a spooky adventure, we can guess he’s the one at least for this season.
Did Summer Accidently Frees The Alien?
In another shot, we saw Summer moving in the kitchen while Morty told her not to touch anything when Rick isn’t there. However, she tries to open Rick’s garage door. But as soon as she touches it, a hologram of Rick appears, which warns her not to enter the garage. Shortly, an alien in the spacesuit appeared from the garage’s portal and started attacking Morty while looking for Rick. It seems like Summer is in danger now.
Non-Jessica Love Interest
The first non-color promo teased that Jessica is interested in Morty as she calls him to go on a date with her. But soon, Rick’s spacecraft crashed into the ocean, hanging their chat in between. Well, since the beginning of the show, Jessica has been Morty’s love interest. But the creators never missed any chance to bring a short-lived romantic partner into Morty’s life. Now the creators have promised to come up with a non-Jessica love interest plot once again. So it looks like their date will again put on hold.
Rick And Morty Season 5: Release Date
Rick And Morty Season 5 will soon air on June 20, 2021, at 11 pm ET only on Adult Swim. But, fans can also stream to its past four seasons only on HBO Max. When the fourth season was renewed back in May 2018, the streamer also ordered 70-episodes which likely run till season 10. So, we can expect more seasons to come with a regular frequency, unlike the past season.
