She has, in a way, grown up in front of the camera, and viewers have seen her growth. The diva recently revealed that she never intended to talk about her sexuality openly. Although she never wanted to hide it, she didn’t want to come out as a queer on the TLC series.
However, Sister Wives producers encouraged her to talk about her sexuality. Gwendlyn, in an interview with Teen Vogue, discussed the situation under which she revealed her sexuality. Kody is a firm believer in the church and an orthodox person. He did not like his daughter to talk about sexuality out in the open, but Gwen was not bothered by her father’s opinions. Kody and his third wife, Christine, share six kids, one of whom is Gwen.

Gwendlyn Brown on her YouTube account hosted a Q&A. She does not have a good relationship with her dad. In her YouTube video, a Sister Wives fan asked about Kody’s relationship with Ysabel. Gwendlyn revealed that Kody does not have a good relationship with any of his kids.
She further elaborated that Kody prioritizes his and Robyn’s kids. Speaking for herself, she added that her relationship with Kody has deteriorated over the years. Gwen even criticized Kody for not spending time with his other kids.

Kody Brown has always been very conservative and orthodox. He also wanted to impose the church rules upon all his wives and kids. At one point, Kody had four wives and 18 children. All of them used to go to the same church. However, in 2021, Sister Wives viewers saw how Christine left Kody and also the church. She did not want to continue the relationship. Similarly, all of Christine’s kids cut ties with Kody, one after another.
His daughter, Gwendlyn, has always been a free spirit. After her parents’ divorce, there was a whirlwind of interviews. In one such interview, she talked about her sexuality. In between an interview about her parents’ divorce and about her sister moving to North Carolina, suddenly, the producer asked her, “Your mom, your mom mentioned you’re bisexual. Do you want to talk about that?” She didn’t want to hide it, so she just accepted that it was true.
Gwendlyn revealed that the producers wanted her to talk more about her sexuality during the filming. In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, she opened up about her experiences. She revealed that she wasn’t thrilled with the conversation about her sexual preferences on television. She further added that she doesn’t like the idea of people coming out as queer. Gwen explained that straight people never announced that they are straight, so why should queer do?
In 2023, Gwendlyn revealed that her sibling Leon distanced themselves from the Brown family, as most of the family members were not supportive of transgenders. In between, there were also rumors that she got into a fight with her siblings over her sexuality. She even accepted that transphobia exists in the family.
