Kody Brown is at it again, as he grabs headlines for beginning his apology tour on Sister Wives. While often known for his brash personality and his antics, fans saw an unexpected change when the latest episode aired. The father of 18 children traveled to North Carolina to meet Janelle, one of his ex-wives. They met after almost a month had passed since the awkward meeting at Coyote Pass with Robyn and Meri.
No words might have been spoken in that meeting, but a lot was said this time as emotions ran high between former family members. In the past 20 years, fans and non-fans have seen Kody increase the distance between him and the family members due to multiple reasons. Now, he seems to be ready to take responsibility for his part in all that. But is this new attitude genuine? And what pushed him to confront his own “meanest” words at last? Keep reading to know more.

As mentioned, fans are seeing a new Kody after the first part of the latest season ended. The Brown family patriarch has started talking about the emotional damage caused by the family’s separation. During the first part of season 20, Kody and Robyn met with Janelle and Meri to settle the sale of their Coyote Pass property. Fans noticed almost an invisible tension between them all as they did not even greet each other or have any conversations. It wasn’t only the fans who noticed this, as Kody felt the same.
According to him, that moment forced him to reflect on how bad their relationships had become. He discussed the incident with Robyn later. Kody revealed that therapy sessions also helped him reconsider his ways during the breakup. He admitted that he felt almost compelled to “own” his part in the breakup. Kody wanted his ex-wives to feel “free” from any past feelings that they might be feeling because of him. Even after all that, Janelle questioned his intentions when he reached out.
In the latest episode of Sister Wives, Kody finally began his self-dubbed apology tour. He asked Janelle out to a restaurant to have a conversation with her. It didn’t take long for things to get emotional between them. Kody admitted he had been overwhelmed with anger and bitterness during the family’s breakup. According to him, none of his wives deserved that level of hostility, and he understood how his behavior affected them.
He also stated that he got angry because he cared for them. If he didn’t get angry, that would mean Janelle was not important to him. Kody also decided to address a comment he once made when he told Janelle he didn’t love her. In front of Janelle, Kody said that the comment was the “meanest” thing he had ever said. He admitted it was not true at all and always cared for her. Hearing that, Janelle got tears in her eyes and said she always knew he loved her despite everything.
Kody was happy that Janelle accepted her apology, which made things easy for him. He was also regretful for not protecting their relationship during their plural marriage setup. Janelle later stated in her confessional that while they both still care about each other, their lives are now different. But she hoped that Kody would mend things with their children someday.
