The Sister Wives star Kody Brown was born and raised in a polygamous background. Hence, he was well aware of the dynamics of plural marriage and wanted to lead one himself. Intially, the TLC star tied the nuptial knot with Meri Brown in 1990. The couple had a prosperous marriage until he met his future second wife. Janelle Brown discussed her journey in the family memoir ‘Becoming Sister Wives.’
Janelle revealed that before she decided to become a polygamist, she was married to Meri’s brother Adam Barber. Her marriage couldn’t last long while her friendship with Kody started to bloom. The TLC star admitted that as soon as she met Kody, she instantly connected with him. They began meeting for lunches and used to discuss their lives. Eventually, he asked Janelle if she wanted to join his family and become a polygamist. That was it! Their romantic era started, and it took just one romantic date for them to walk down the aisle.
Within three years of Kody and Meri’s marriage, he decided to tie the nuptial knot in 1993 with Janelle. Though Janelle accepted that polygamy wasn’t an easy option and had many ups and downs, she was drawn to the idea and wanted to become a part of it. Hence, Kody was officially a polygamist after bringing his second wife to the Brown family.

The Sister Wives star Kody Brown didn’t stop and decided to bring more wives into his family. He met Christine in 1990 and went on his first date in 1994. Christine was also born and brought up in a polygamous background and always wanted to be the ‘third wife.’ Hence, the dynamics were favorable for her, and she became the third wife of Kody Brown. The dynamics remained the same for several years until Kody met Robyn in 2009.
They initially decided to get married spiritually. But to adopt kids from Robyn’s previous marriage, Kody had to legally marry her in 2014. Since then, the other Sister Wives often claimed Robyn to be the favorite wife of Kody. However, as per the current scenario, Meri, Janelle, and Christine have renounced their union, and the patriarch is now in a monogamous marriage with his fourth wife.
