TNT’s sci-fi drama Snowpiercer recently got an early renewal for next season, Snowpiercer Season 4. Meanwhile, the star Daveed Diggs teased that season 3’s production is currently at its tail end. Based on the 2013 movie, the series takes place in 2026 in a post-apocalyptic world where the world as a whole turned into frozen wastelands. However, the remnants were rescued by a giant luxurious train that prevents the passengers from freezing.
Snowpiercer Season 4: Has It Renewed Yet?
Snowpiercer has received early renewal ahead of its third season premiere. Recently, TNT announced the renewal of the fourth season soon after the third season wraps up filming. As per the reports, the network secretly decided last month but has officially confirmed it now. Star Daveed Diggs disclosed the renewal news straight from the set at the end of the filming.
While Claws and Animal Kingdom coming to an end, Snowpiercer remains the only scripted series on the network. It debuted as the No. 1 scripted drama amongst the ad-supported cable last year. Meanwhile, the second season gained 21 million viewers and L+7 viewing in the digital audience. Further, it also ranked as the Top 5 cable drama. Thus, the early renewal comes as no surprise.

Now, the third season will focus on Layton and his small pirate team searching for Melanie, while seeking a warm location to reestablish the civilization. However, they will begin this search operation with the help of a newfound survivor. On the other hand, Mr. Wilford is fortifying power thwarted by Layton’s hidden force. Thus, Mr. Wilford will go to any length to take down Layton and his team.
Who Will Join Snowpiercer Season 3?
Chelsea Harris as Sykes and Archie Panjabi as Asha has joined the third season cast as series regulars. Along with them, the returning cast members include Jennifer Connelly as Melanie Cavill, Daveed Diggs as Andre Layton, and Sean Bean as Mr. Wilford. In addition, Rowan Blanchard as Alexandra “Alex” Cavill, Alison Wright as Ruth Wardell, and Mickey Sumner as Bess Till will also join.

As of now, TNT hasn’t revealed the official release date of the third season. But, the third season will return in early 2022. Now that the filming has wrapped up for the third season. We can expect that soon Snowpiercer season 4 will go on production in late 2021. Thus, there’s a possibility that season 4 will air in late 2022.
