Special Season 2: When Would The Show Release?

The creators have not yet announced the release date of the show. Right now, we do not have much information on when the Emmy nominated series would come back. Special Season 2 was renewed in December 2019, and as per the latest reports, the team had finished working o scripts in January 2020. Then the pandemic happened, and everything, including all of these productions, was paused. This also delayed the production of Special Season 2.

One year into the completion of the scripts, and we are still wondering when the second season would release. A lot of productions have started getting back on track. So, that is a good sign. It is possible that the team for special will also start working on the next season soon. It is safe to assume that it will be a long time before we get to see the second season. Like the silver lining in this grey cloud, we can say that this delay might be for good. This ordeal would give the creative minds behind the show the time they need to develop the second season. We can expect to see Special Season 2 sometime in the second part of 2021.

What Would Happen Next?

The first season of the show saw Ryan as he moved out of his home. He told his co-workers that he had cerebral palsy. By the end, Ryan started living life on his own terms. However, the tension had become an all-time high with Ryan’s overprotective mother, Karen. This resulted in Ryan walking out of his own birthday lunch after an argument. Viewers can expect that the second season would presumably see both of them working together on their relationship.

All the episodes of the first season were fifteen minutes episodes. So, it remains to be seen if the second season would be the same or not. In a recent interview, Josh O’Connell, the creator of the show, said that he is hoping that they would get a half-hour episode in the second season. So, it is yet to been seen what happens in the next. The creator says that he finds this 12-minute limitation frustrating.

When the next season comes, we will most likely see sub-plots for a number of side characters. If the team gets more screen-time, they will indulge deeper into their stories. We would see Kim dealing with her body image issues and Karen’s attempt to lead a life of her own.
