TLC’s all-new show Suddenly Amish premiered on January 13, 2026, and fans are already talking. In a new clip, viewers meet Judah, a 22-year-old rapper. He walks into the Amish community, dragging his luggage behind him and wearing chunky boots. “Omg I cannot believe I’m here right now,” he says as he walks in to meet the other cast. The cast meets near a barn as Bishop Vernon, the leader of the Lancaster Amish community, studies them from afar.
Judah meets Kendra, a former dancer and OF model from California. They hug, and Judah says she smells good. Billi Joe also joins them, dressed head to toe in traditional Amish clothing. When asked if she’s Amish, she states she hopes to be one someday. Fans had mixed reactions, calling the show fake, chaotic, and very unserious.
Before entering the community, Amish members teach the Suddenly Amish cast the strict dress rules they must follow. This means the cast needs to revamp their wardrobe to include clothes that comply with the community guidelines. No flashy clothes allowed in the Amish land, which means Judah’s modern rapper fits need to go. In a new clip, Amish members sort out Judah’s clothes, including his beloved boots.
The clip opens with James, an Amish member, explaining that the community will check cast members’ suitcases to ensure they bring no worldly items into the house. “We can’t have them corrupt the Amish”, says the voice. James examines Judah’s suitcase. Judah learns he needs to let go of his ripped jeans, as they do not conform to the Amish dress code.
“If you are Amish, the dress code goes with it. It’s part of the religion’, an Amish member explains in the clip. She explains that Judah’s yellow jersey is a big no-no. If someone sees his flashy clothes in his laundry line, it would start rumors. So, its reputation is on the line. James also asks Judah to take off his boots, as it is against the rules. Judah’s boots are flashy for an Amish person.
Judah jokes that he thinks James lowkey likes his boots. Fans commented on the clip. A few had negative things to say about the show. But others enjoyed the episode.
