Relationships and dating were not possible because people were related.

Therefore, in hopes of repopulating their church, the Amish leader is letting non-Amish individuals into the community. They need to leave modern life behind and embrace the Amish way. In the trailer, the cast members share their reasons for leaving that life behind and adopting a new one. One cast member claimed that a simpler Amish life would be good for her. Another thought is that the Amish would help him spiritually.

The reality show follows six Americans embracing the simple life as one Amish community in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, invites them to join them. The six participants leave behind technology, electricity, social media, and modern comforts to experience a simple way of living rooted in tradition and discipline.

All six cast members come from different backgrounds, but they all want to experience the Amish life. Each has its unique reason. Among the six cast members, there’s Matt, a divorced dad from Texas. He looks rugged but has a vulnerable side. He is seeking spiritual grounding and a fresh start. Kendra is a former dancer and content creator from California who hopes to move past body image struggles and find deeper meaning in life.

Aaron, 40, from Michigan, is a pastor’s son drawn to Amish devotion, but he faces challenges due to a hearing disability that requires modern technology. The youngest participant is Judah. He is a 22-year-old rapper from Missouri who values luxury but, at his core, wants true belonging. His germophobia makes life on the farm more difficult than for others.

Next is Esme, 25. Hailing from Texas, she wants a stable, traditional family. She struggles to let go of glam as part of her identity. Billie Jo, 44, from New York, is a longtime admirer of Amish culture. He already wears Amish clothing, so this is a dream come true.
