Superstore Season 7: Will It Return At NBC? Everything You Need To Know

NBC

The global pandemic has disturbed the industry that resulted in a halt in production. But, some long-running shows faced a few major setbacks, including cancelation. Such was the case with Superstore Season 7. Recently the series wrapped up its sixth season, and fans are keenly waiting to see whether the Superstore finale could change the network’s mind. Will it happen? Will Superstore Season 7 return to our screen once again? Well, let’s see!

Superstore has been on air since 2015 and has claimed many awards for its perfect comic timing and story. It follows America Ferrera as Amelia “Amy” Sosa, who begins her career as the assistant manager in Cloud 9 store before promoted as store manager. Throughout the series, she wears a different name tag, so Amy can avoid any contact from strangers. But in the final season, she left the store to join the corporate position.

Superstore Season 7: Is It Renewed For The Next Run?

Superstore successfully ran for six seasons and received positive ratings from the critics as well as the viewers. But, the network confirmed that Superstore wouldn’t return for the seventh season. In an interview, the showrunner, Gabe Miller, said that they learned around Thanksgiving that the sixth season would be the show’s final season. At that time, they had already filmed nine episodes and were about to film the finale. But, after the news, they mapped another ending to conclude the story.

Reason Behind The Cancelation

Although NBC didn’t share the reason behind the series cancelation yet, we believe it’s due to the lead actress exit. Ferrera decided to say goodbye in the fifth season. But, Ferrera agreed to recur in the sixth season pilot episodes to give a satisfying send-off to Amy. But losing the lead role perhaps leads to the falling of ratings. As the fifth season gained 100% ratings on Rotten Tomatoes while the sixth season earned only 80%. So, Ferrera’s exit might impact the decision of NBC not to renew the show.

Lisa Katz Grateful For The Show

Scripted comedy president Lisa Katz said that the show has always been the core series on NBC. It has never failed to make everyone laugh while telling severe issues. Lisa praised the writers, actors, producers, and crew for their amazing contributions in creating such a series. Indeed the show will forever hold a place in the top workplace comedy series they can cherish, said Lisa.

Erin Underhill Praised Everyone For Their Hardwork

Universal Television President Erin Underhill said that they are glad to tell the stories through Cloud 9’s walls. He even praised the creator Justin Spitzer and the current showrunners Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green, for creating such a strong show with a touch of humor. Erin added that the cast brings a smile to fans’ faces. They also smoothly told the social issues that impacted everyone’s life.

In response, Justin and the cast thanked Universal Television and NBC for giving them a place to tell the stories. They continued it won’t have happened if the fans never show such their valuable time. Justin added they’re glad to wrap the show with a pleasing ending which fans deserve.
