New Faces Are Coming Up For The Crown Season 5!

This upcoming season of The Crown Season 5 will see a new set of cast. First joining the cast is Imelda Staunton, who is coming in to play Queen Elizabeth II. She will be coming in to replace Olivia Colman and Claire Foy. To portray the character of her flamboyant younger sister Princess Margaret, Actress Lesly Manville will join the cast. The Oscar-nominated star will follow the footsteps of Helena Bonham Carter and Vanessa Kirby, who earlier played Margaret Thatcher.

Elizabeth Debicki will also reprise her role as Princess Diana. Oscar nominee Jonathan Pryce will take over from Matt Smith, who plays the part of Prince Philip. Many new actors are not yet announced. We will let you know more about these casting as the news surfaces about it.

Production and Release Status

Back in October 2020, the series lead Imelda Staunton revealed that The Crown Season 5 would start filming sometime around July 2021. Earlier in 2020, Staunton spoke to Entertainment Weekly that his research is still going on. The filming is delayed because of the ongoing pandemic. She says that she thinks that everything in the world is getting pushed on. So who knows, they could have been chipping away at this thing quietly.

Deadline had earlier reported that The Crown Season 5 would begin filming in 2021. The first and the second season were filmed together in 2016 and 2017. The third and fourth seasons were filmed together. Now the fifth and sixth seasons will most probably film in the upcoming years. If the production starts in 2021, we might see more episodes of the show sometime in 2022.
