The Idhun Chronicles is a Spanish fantasy anime web series. Zeppelin TV produces this show for Netflix. It is the remake of the book saga titled The Idhun’s Memories by Laura Gallego. The Spanish anime made its debut on September 10, 2020. The second season premiered only after three months on January 8, 2021. Its debut season received negative reviews, but its following instalment is receiving a positive response.
The Idhun Chronicles Season 3: Renewal Status!
The previous two seasons of the anime were released within a gap of only three months. So, the fans expected a quick renewal from the streaming giant. However, Netflix hasn’t provided any update on the future of its first Spanish anime series. But the author of the book saga Laura Gallega has teased the arrival of The Idhun Chronicles Season 3 with her tweet.
When she tweeted to remind the fans about the release date of its second season, she also wrote, “As you can see, we have some very idhunite months ahead of us; but I reserve other things for 2021 that I will tell you when the time comes ;-)” After seeing this tweet, the fans are almost certain that Netflix will renew the anime for the third season very soon.
Is There Enough Source Material?
As we mentioned above, this anime follows its plot from the book saga titled The Idhun’s Memories. It is a fantasy and adventure trilogy by Laura Gallego. Out of these three books, the first and the second season of the anime adapted its plot only from the first book. And that means the makers still have the plot from the remaining two books for producing The Idhun Chronicles Season 3. With that much source material, Zeppelin TV can produce four seasons of the anime and can end the series with its sixth installment.
The Idhun Chronicles Season 3: Will The Anime Return?
While every single factor is indicating the return of the anime series, the Wikipedia page of the series is saying something quite the opposite. According to it, no agreement had reached to adapt the plot of the second and the third book into the anime series. Therefore, the second season is the final installment of the series. If this turns out to be true, then the fans will never see The Idhun Chronicles Season 3. And this might be the possible reason the fans haven’t heard about the official renewal of the anime. The fans can only hope that the production studio and Laura Gallego will soon make an agreement. And then only Netflix will announce the fate of the series.
