The Witcher Season 2 Gets Back Into Production, Showrunner Reveals Details, More To Know

Everyone is well aware that The Witcher Season 2 is happening. The big question is, when would it release? The first season of the series was released in December 2019, and it has been a long time since that happened. So, what is happening next? The team of The Witcher Season 2 got into productions earlier in 2020 with a plan to release the show sometime in 2021.

However, just like any other production, The Witcher was also shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Then after a long break, the team got into production again in August 2020, and they had to shut down the productions again because of the ongoing pandemic. This made not only the creators but the fans of the show very sad.

However, now we are here with some good news. The Henry Cavill-led show is going back into the second year of the productions for The Witcher Season 2. The showrunner of the series, Lauren S. Hissrich, shared a post on Twitter that is full of gratitude. The showrunner keeps all the viewers of the show updated with little sneak peeks about the show. Now that they are back again to get the work started, Hissrich took a moment to be thankful and reflect.

The Witcher Season 2: What Would Happen Next?

Showrunner Hissrich has confirmed that the upcoming second season of the series will be way more linear. In a statement, she says that viewers will get to see all the characters existing in the same timeline in the upcoming season. This will allow the creators to make the show storywise. However, they would play season 2 in a little different way. She says that they will get to do flashbacks; they will be able to do flash-forwards. She says that they will get to actually integrate time in a different way. They weren’t able to do any of that in the first season of the series.

While Netflix hasn’t announced much about the way all the characters were seen by the end of the first season, it is likely that the upcoming season will be based on the next book in the Witcher series- Blood of Elves. This is the first book in the Witcher Saga. The first season was more of the prequel series that constructed the base. The second season of the series will indeed get the ball rolling on what would happen with Ciri and her power.

Back in October 2020, Netflix had released the first look pictures of Ciri, Yennefer, and Geralt from the second season. The pictures saw Ciri holding onto a weapon. This indicates that The Witcher Season 2 would focus on how she got trained into being an honorary Witcher at Kaer Morhen. Then in December 2020, Netflix released some more pictures. When Would The Next Season Release?

All productions are taking more time because of the safety measures. The Witcher is a massive production, so we can be certain that it will take quite some time for the creators to finish the shoot for the upcoming season. When the first season originally came out in 2019, the showrunner had confirmed that viewers wouldn’t get The Witcher Season 2 before 2021.

That was when they have the whole of 2020 to make the series. Now, with everything getting delayed, there is no confirmed date on when the upcoming season would possibly release. Being optimistic, we can hope that The Witcher Season 2 might release either by the end of 2021 or sometime in 2022, maybe. We will keep you updated with all the news about the show as we get it. So, you keep an eye on this space.
