While Erin Braeden, who plays Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, advocated how Doug Davidson’s character Paul William should get more screen time, it looks like Doug has finally left for good and he won’t be coming back. Recently a number of fans together started a thread on Twitter on how Davidson should be back on the soap opera.

However, Davidson himself took onto the social media platform to shut down all the speculations and put the facts straight. What is happening in the soap opera? Will Doug’s character ever come back? Here is what he has to say-

Davidson’s character Paul William has been away from Genoa City for some time now. So, fans of the character haven’t really been happy about it. In fact, many fans even called out the creators and asked them to rehire Davidson and bring him back I the soap opera. However, Doug Davidson took it upon himself to clear the air where he told the fans that it isn’t happening. He even told his fans that his stint on the show has ended. 

Later on, Davidson took onto Twitter to tell everyone that he has had a great time while he was in The Young and the Restless. Now, he has no regrets. He appreciated the creators of The soap and called them fabulous. He stated that he will forever be grateful to the whole team.

Talking about his future, the actor said that he is fine and happy. He just wants to meet his kids. However, COVID has made it absolutely impossible for him to do that. And he hopes to do that soon. Concluding his statement, he thanked everyone. Check out his post here-

After all of this, one fan suggested that the writers should have written off Rey. They say that in Paul’s absence, Rey has become the top cop. However, Davidson replied to the fan and saved Rey. He asked the fan not to take their frustration out on Rey. He even praised Rey’s portrayer Jordi Vilaususo saying that he is an awesome guy in real life.
