Eric Braeden, the legendary actor behind the iconic Victor Newman on The Young and the Restless, has been entertaining fans for over 40 years. During a recent Facebook Live, Eric Braeden shared some eye-opening details about his road to recovery following knee surgery.

The Young and the Restless

The man who’s known for his love of working out and sports had to take a break from his daily fitness routine for longer than he expected. Braeden recounted a moment when he tried to do squats after surgery. Only to realize that it wasn’t a good idea! Though he initially feared he’d caused damage, he later found out that he hadn’t and slowed his pace to allow for proper healing. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the only health challenge he faced during this time.

In a bid to help other men of his age, Braeden shared his story on social media. He opened up about the troubles he encountered with his prostate. It made him get up almost every 30 minutes during the night to urinate while he was still recuperating from knee surgery. This wasn’t the ideal situation for anyone to be in, and Braeden knew that he had to speak out about it. As Braeden’s condition worsened, he was left with no option but to seek medical intervention. Thankfully, the urologist’s examination of his bladder gave him a clean bill of health, and he got some relief.

But the problems did not end there! On his way to the CBS studios to shoot for The Young and the Restless, Braeden experienced the same problem. Faced with this urgent matter, he immediately sought help from a different urologist at Cedars-Sinai. It was this urologist who distract the actor from his discomfort. While getting a catheter inserted, the urologist shared an interesting story about learning English by watching The Young and the Restless. Little did Braeden know that this same doctor would uncover something much more serious – cancer in his bladder.

The urologist assured Eric Braeden that they could get rid of cancer through surgery and a Urolift. A tiny implant that can ease the pressure on the urethra from an enlarged prostate. However, at his follow-up appointment, Braeden received some unexpected news. A biopsy revealed high-grade cancer cells among the low-grade ones, which required a more intensive treatment called BCG. This involves injecting a solution via a catheter once a week to activate the immune system against high-grade cells.

Braeden has undergone the first two treatments, and his journey through this experience serves as an inspiration for others who may be facing similar health issues. Despite the challenges, Braeden remains positive and determined to overcome this latest obstacle. In an emotional message to his followers, he expressed his gratitude for their unwavering support and vowed to emerge victorious in his fight against cancer.
