When The Young and The Restless makers first teased that many iconic characters from the past will be returning for the big 50th-anniversary celebrations, fans were ecstatic. Many Y&R loyalists were holding on to the hope that their favorite, Paul Williams (Doug Davidson), would return too. It has been an eternity since he was seen on screen. However, there has never been an explanation on the soap about his whereabouts. His fans have forever been holding on that open end as the possibility of his return someday.
Unfortunately, Paul (Doug) was nowhere to be seen during the festivities on The Young and The Restless. However, fans did get a rather significant update regarding him. Paul’s on-screen wife, Christine, attended the Bicentennial Gala and lent an update regarding his whereabouts. Moreover, she also dropped a hint about what the future holds for them on the CBS soap. When Lauren and Michael greeted Christine at the gala, they asked why she was flying solo. Furthermore, they wondered what Paul might have on his agenda now that he has retired as the Chief of Police.
Christine informed Lauren and Michael that Paul has jetted off to Portugal on The Young and The Restless. She added that Heather and Lucy’s visit to GC was rather short. Thus, he decided to spend more time with them in Portugal. However, there was a certain hesitance in Christine’s voice. It felt as if she was holding off information. Is there more to the story than what she is letting on? Perhaps there is! Because after a moment of pause, Christine shared that she is considering returning to her old job as a District Attorney,
If there was any doubt in our minds about there being more to the story on The Young and The Restless, Michael and Lauren confirmed it. When Christine said the job would be good for her as she needs a change, the couple could sense the discomfort too. Perhaps they too could catch the vibe that something is amiss between Christine and Paul. Is this the first step towards Christine calling her relationship off with paul. Will she announce in the upcoming episodes that she and Paul have parted ways. Moreover, that he has moved to Portugal to stay with his daughter, Heather!
Considering the fact that actor Doug Davidson has repeatedly asserted that he won’t return to The Young and The Restless, the above seems almost certain.
