It’s been some time since The Young and the Restless viewers got to see Daniel Goddard playing the character of Cane on the soap opera. However, that doesn’t mean that they have forgotten him. In fact, Y&R viewers continue to ask Goddard if he would be coming back to the soap opera or not. In an interview with Soap She Knows, the actor cleared everything.
Speaking about whether he would ever return as Cane, the actor says that it is a good question and he would entertain it. However, the circumstances will have to be different now. Back in 2019, when Goddard exited from the show, things didn’t end on a positive note. So, if he is to come back, he would want some significant changes. Using his words rather carefully, the actor says that if The Young and the Restless decides to make changes, this is an idea he will be very much interested in.
The actor not only is ready to come back to the soap opera, but he even has some storylines in mind. In the same interview, Goddard says that there is a lot that can happen with Cane. But it will not be around his reunion with Lily. Y&R viewers would recall, Cane and Lily were a very famous couple back in the time.
However, it looks like Cane wants to move on from that. Goddard recalled that back when Mal Young (former head writer) was still a part of the soap opera, he would get Cane and Victoria get all hot and passionate with each other in the kitchen. That is something that he loved.
Exploring another possibility, the actor says that a lot can happen between Mishael Morgan’s character Amanda and Cane. Long time The Young and the Restless viewers would recall, Hilary had first come in as Cane’s innocent assistant. But later on, she made her vendetta clear. She blamed Neil for her mother’s death. She wanted to avenge that and decided to ruin Winter’s family.
Hilary had drugged Cane and made him believe that they had slept together. So, Goddard feels that this was soap 101. It was the perfect opportunity for the producers to go crazy over this.
Unfortunately, things did not go as he had wanted to. The situation might be a little sour between Goddard and The Young and the Restless right now, but that doesn’t mean that it will always be this way.
