King Charles III struck a chord with the nation with his heart-touching message on Maundy Thursday. Following his and Catherine’s cancer diagnoses, he pressed on the importance of acts of friendship. The King couldn’t make it to the annual Royal Maundy service at Worcester Cathedral, expressing his deep regret for being MIA. Queen Camilla yet again filled in for the Monarch, handing out traditional Maundy gifts on Charles’ behalf. Read on!

King Charles III: The King Delivers a Heartfelt Message!

The audio message marked the first public remarks by King Charles III following Kate’s chemo announcement. The King is currently choosing his health over the royal duties and managing them from behind the desk. However, he will make a grand return alongside Camilla at Easter Sunday service, making it a big deal since his diagnosis. Check out below what Maundy Thursday signifies!

Maundy Thursday is an old Christian tradition commemorating Jesus washing his disciples’ feet at the Last Supper. It symbolises humility and service. Likewise, King Charles III touched on the event’s significance, highlighting the need for acts of kindness and friendship.

Furthermore, King Charles started his message by quoting “The First Lesson” from the Gospel of John. The Monarch believes the ceremony sets “an example of how we should serve and care for each other.” He also reiterated the importance of community service and thanked those who exemplify kindness and selflessness in their communities.

Queen Camilla Gives Out the Maundy Money!

In addition, King Charles III reflected on his coronation pledge “not to be served but to serve” with “my whole heart.” By the way, the Maundy service involves the King giving out gifts and dates back to at least the 13th century. Traditionally, the Monarch washed the feet of those in need, but the ritual got modernised. Now, the sovereign hands out unique coins to people to recognize their contribution.

Queen Camilla kept up the tradition and distributed specially minted coins to individuals recognized for their service. A total of fifty people received the Maundy Money this year. In his message, King Charles III called the individuals “wonderful examples of kindness.”

Although he didn’t directly address Kate’s health, his message underscored the resilience and unity needed during adversity.
