He was ‘delirious’ from dehydration and had severe back pain, which caused him to spend days in bed. Even after resting, his condition worsened. His quick-thinking girlfriend called an ambulance and took him to the hospital.

​It seems that Alice’s quick action truly saved Sam’s life. After diagnosing his condition, doctors told Sam he would have died in the next 24 hours if he had not visited the hospital. Unfortunately, the flu turned out to be liver and kidney failure, caused by a genetic condition. The failure also led to sepsis. “You never think the flu will lead to you being in a hospital bed and nearly dying,” he said.
