Usman and Lisa went through a great deal of trouble to get his mother’s blessings for the marriage. Earlier, he took Lisa to his mother’s place when Lisa wore traditional Nigerian attire. However, the age difference and the fact that Lisa is white came in the way of Usman’s mom’s blessing.
But later, they went together to a mosque, and finally, Usman’s mother gave Lisa her blessing. In the preview, we can see Usman going to the store to buy Lisa the ring of her choice. Even though it’s not a part of the Nigerian culture to get the girl a ring, Usman is doing that so as to blend in with the American culture.
