We know that the couple recently welcomed their first child, Aviel, via emergency C-section. The couple had to undergo a lot of struggle in the process. So much so that the whole experience turned out to be quite traumatizing for Ariela.

As per Biniyam’s culture, they slaughter a sheep to welcome a baby. And so his family did when Aviel is born. Cut to the scene, and the couple witness the slaughtering of the sheep. It is apparent that Ariela was not expecting this in her wildest imagination. As soon as she saw it, she covered her eyes and said that she couldn’t handle this. On the other hand, Biniyam says on the camera that this incident left Ariela surprised because he didn’t inform her of it.
Biniyam Explains His Culture To Shocked Ariela
Although Biniyam tries to explain his traditions to the producers, Ariela is at a loss for words. She says that she would have expected a fruit basket, maybe. However, chopping a sheep right in front of her naked eyes is unbelievable. Biniyam, for his part, goes on to comfort Ariela saying that slaughtering is an act of love. With this act, they intend to celebrate the arrival of a new life. He also added that the slaughtered sheep are barbequed and shared amongst the family members for a good meal. But Ariela is not having any of these explanations. She simply feels awful and holds herself responsible for the killing of an innocent sheep!

This is not the first time when Ariela showed her discomfort with Biniyam’s culture. From the time she had set foot in Ethiopia, she is struggling to adapt to his culture. The time of her son’s birth was hard for her as she got no time to prepare herself. She was in tears and was given anesthesia during childbirth. The reality star woke up to see her son breastfeeding her. The whole turn of events has been overwhelming for her.
