Ariela is clearly uncomfortable with the idea of living in Ethiopia. Even though she is going along with Biniyam well, she’s getting homesick already. When living arrangements are the only issue, fans have been wondering why Biniyam doesn’t go to the States with Ariela and start a family there.
It turns out that due to Biniyam’s past, the couple couldn’t take this path even if they wanted to. Biniyam’s American ex-wife Bria made him cut all ties with their son Simon. Biniyam said that she is now with her childhood sweetheart. When she was pregnant with Biniyam’s baby, he was supposed to fly to the US to attend the ceremony. However, his application for the tourist visa got denied.
When Bria decided to come to Addis Ababa, the diagnosis of their unborn baby revealed gastroschisis, a medical condition in which some of the baby’s organs protrude out of the body. Even though Bria got Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley to write an invitation letter, it wasn’t of any help. Eventually, Biniyam did manage to come to America to marry Bria in a church, he got there on humanitarian parole, not on a tourist visa.
Odds Against Biniyam For His Fourth Visa Application to The US
Since Biniyam has already been denied the US visa three times. It’s highly unlikely that his application would go through the fourth time. Moreover, earlier, despite serious medical conditions for his baby, he couldn’t get his visa approved. The intensity of his current situation doesn’t even compare to what the circumstances were when he had to visit the States before.
Fans are sympathetic to Biniyam and don’t really understand why Ariela was fighting with him about not renting the big apartment. It was three times more than his monthly earnings from all his jobs. Viewers also feel that he is trying his best and that Ari is being unappreciative of his efforts.
