Although popular opinion says that reality shows are true, they are not. In fact, they mostly don’t portray the ‘reality’ at all. The TV shows, especially in the case of this TLC program, encourage the producers to script the scenes and spice things up. One of the cast members Ashley once said that they are asked to be deceptive on the show. The stars are told to fake their relationships. Basically, the network controls their relationships and social media activities to an extent.

The TLC Show Doesn’t Help The Couples With Their Visa Applications!

The show doesn’t help the couples in getting through their K-1 visa application. Moreover, the show never shows any support for getting the visa approved of an internationally-born individual of the couple. The couples are pretty much on their own. Another rule states that the couples must meet each other two years before filing for the K-1 visa. That means all those first-time meetings filmed for the show are not true. Additionally, the couples have to provide evidence of their meetings too.

A surprising yet interesting rule says that the stars do not decide how they will be portrayed on the show. The network has got to decide that. A thorough background check including participant’s criminal background check, any court documents, etc are also done. Also, if in case the participant couples do not marry, the partner born outside of the United States must return to their country of origin.
