Derick revealed that he couldn’t reveal any news about his engagement. Nor was Jill allowed to say anything about her pregnancy. He also stated that all of their personal events had to be revealed via official channels.
Derick said in an interview that they did not have the right to reveal their own life events such as their marriage, kids, births, the gender of their children, etc. He also said that if he were to do it all over again, he would have announced everything. Even if that meant getting into trouble.
He and Jill felt like they had no control over their lives. This restriction also affected their relationship with Michelle and Jim Bob. In another interview, Derick decided to reveal the misconceptions about his family that has been rampant among viewers. He said that he and Jill don’t believe that drinking is a sin or wearing pants is immodest. He is also not opposed to the LGBTQ community and even has a close friend who is gay.
Counting On: Jill and Derick Still Trying To Heal From Filming Against Their Will
They have been taking therapy from a licensed counselor and it has been helping the couple recover from the pain of filming against their will. He adds that God has answered their prayers and brought them closer together. They are working through all the pain and stress, simultaneously growing their relationship.
Moreover, he implied that when it comes to filming, the Duggar kids don’t have much of an option. This kind of admission wasn’t surprising but the fact that he had the courage to speak out so openly against Jim Bob is a bit shocking.
Counting On: Derick Blames Jim Bob For Holding Their Payments
Derick revealed earlier that the Duggar kids didn’t know that TLC was paying Jim Bob. He never compensated the kids and told them that they are doing the show to bring their values out in front of the world. But when Derick knew it was all untrue, he didn’t hold back exposing the gray areas of the Duggar family.
Jill also needs permission from the Duggar patriarch to visit her siblings. Most likely, in the coming days, Jim Bob and Michelle are likely to abandon them as she is not following the norms of the family. She wears pants and is sending her son to a public school rather than homeschooling him like the other Duggars. We can say that she might be an upcoming rebel of the family.
