However, they continue to unravel the dirty truths of the ultra-conservative family. We know that another Duggar kid is set for marriage soon. Justin announced his engagement this November with his girlfriend, Claire Spivey. The two are teens and prepared to tie the knot soon. This followed just two months after they made their courtship public. Nonetheless, the fans wonder if the children have the right to decide on the courtship rules.
Jill Claims That The Couples Get To Set Their Own Courtship Rules
In a recent Q&A session on Youtube, Jill Dillard got candid about courtships in her family. The black sheep of the family spilled that it is Jim Bob who decides the rules! In the video available on their family blog, Jill claimed that the couples get to set their own rules. However, they’re encouraged to decide strict rules as per Duggar norms. Now, although Derick comes from a religious family, his was not as conservative as Jill’s.
Moving ahead in the video, Derrick admits that he would have loved to hold Jill’s hand before engagement. However, Jill quickly chips in, saying that Derick would have needed Jim Bob’s permission. This statement hints at Jim Bob controlling the dating rules when it comes to the courtships. Thus, the differences between Jill and Derick’s family become more pronounced as they express themselves.
Derick Doesn’t Like The Word Courtship, Finds It Weird
Derick went on to reveal that he doesn’t like the idea of courtship. In fact, he finds it ‘weird.’ He even said that he wouldn’t choose to use this term before his marriage. However, the couple says that this term was used only for the television audience. They, anyway, considered their relationship to be a dating one.
None knows if Derick had any relationship before Jill. However, we’re convinced that Jill didn’t get into any relationship before her husband. As we know that Derick attended a State University before tying the knot, it is possible that he dated someone before. As for Jeremy Vuolo, he absolutely dated someone at Syracuse University before marrying Jinger Duggar.
