After their fallout with the Duggar fam, the two have planned to put more distance between them and the family-based at Arkansas. Counting On: Derick And Jill To Go Missionary Trips

Derrick revealed the family is planning to go on a missionary trip overseas. This wouldn’t be the family’s missionary trip. In the past, too, Jill, Derrick, and their oldest so Sam went to Central America on a similar journey. Both Jim and Jill have completed four such trips, individual as well as together. Derrick mentioned that “our original plan from the time we married was to serve permanently on the international mission field.” He further explained that these trips will take them out of the country. Derrick continued that they “are definitely open to moving wherever God would lead us.”

Although it is not clear where the family will go, a few instances give us some clue. Since the family is learning Spanish, they might move back to Central America for their missionary work.

Is This Plan A Result Of Fallout With Duggar Fam?

Derick has not divulged any detail, but we might assume that this decision came in the aftermath of his fallout with the Duggar family. In 2019, Derrick openly criticized Bob Duggar for having access to TLC’s contract and paycheck. Derrick said that he and Jill never received their share of compensation for appearing on the show. Consequently, both left the show, and Jill continued to appear only briefly in the background. This made their relationship with Bob sourer.

Derrick shared that the couple was not allowed on the Duggar property without their permission. He further added bitterly that he and his wife “weren’t even allowed to be the first ones to announce our life events — our marriage, expecting our baby, our genders of our children, our births.” As a result of the increasing differences, the couple was absent from the Duggar family’s Thanksgiving gathering. Jill also had to miss her sister-in-law Abbie Duggar’s baby shower, and her younger sister Joy-Anna Duggar’s gender reveal.

Counting On: Will Dillards And Duggars Ever Get Back Together?

After feuds and distances, the question is if Derick and Jill will ever get back together with Duggars. Derrick expressed that he and Jill “hope and pray God would restore relationships where there is brokenness.” On mending relationships, Dillard also added that “at the same time, we recognize that only God can change people’s hearts and bring healing.”
