Counting On stars John David Duggar and his wife, Abbie, welcomed their first child in January. Recently, they looked back at Abbie’s 36-hour-long labor in Tuesday night’s episode of Counting On. The recent episode is featuring their little girl, Grace Annette. In a preview clip obtained by a news tabloid, Abbie opens up about being dilated to five centimeters after a day and a half in labor. She further added that she needed Pitocin to move things before childbirth.
Counting On: Abbie Didn’t allow Cameras In Delivery Room
Contrary to other Duggar women, Abbie and John didn’t allow TLC cameras in the delivery room. They wanted to keep the momentous affair private. Although the couple spoke on camera about their experience, there’s no footage of Abbie’s delivery. Despite this, the couple had Abbie’s sister take some photographs which later flashed on the television. Abbie was a nurse before her marriage to John. So, she didn’t head to the hospital until she’d been in labor for a full day.
Counting On: Abbie Looks Back On Her Labor Days
In the recent episode, we see Abbie detailing her labor. She started off saying that they checked at around 10 at night at the hospital. Later, she took to Pitocin to have an epidural because her body wasn’t making progress. She was visibly exhausted. After a few hours of sleep, Abbie felt refreshed. It was safe for her to start pushing which they did for 30 to 45 minutes before Gracie entered the world.
Other Duggar Women Allowed Cameras In Delivery Room
Since the TLC cameras were not allowed, only footage taken from camera phones plays in the episode. Following everything, Lauren said to Abbie that she’s glad the latter’s epidural worked. Laura’s labor was well documented in her own Counting On birth special. She had cameras inside the delivery room and so was in the case of Kendra. Kendra is currently expecting her third child. Furthermore, the birth of Jill’s sons and Joy-Anna giving birth to Gideon was captured on the cameras as well. Jinger was filmed too but the cameras disappeared during active labor.
Abbie And John Are Happy To Welcome Their Grace
Abbie and John shared that their lives changed after the baby girl’s arrival. They said that she is a beautiful gift from God. The couple announced their pregnancy last year. They were very happy to welcome their own little Duggar. Despite a rather hard pregnancy, the couple managed to welcome their Grace. Now, they are all set for a new adventure with their little girl.
