TLC’s favourite doctor, Charles Procter, is a highly regarded physician. The network approached him to star in a weight-loss show where he treats patients with obesity. But Dr Procter did not want to be a part of another weight-loss show that treats obesity with humiliation, unlike Dangerously Obese. He had a vision for the show where patients are treated past their obese selves. The bariatric surgeon wanted to show the emotional and mental stories.
Dangerously Obese featured mother-daughter patients who had given up mentally. Dr. Procter treated them with compassion and helped them recover. The surgeon told Ty Griffin to lose weight and fully embrace his sexuality. Yolanda, who gained weight from feederism, underwent surgery, thanks to him. Before appearing on “Dangerously Obese,” Dr. Procter has helped many others, including those featured in “1000 Lb Sisters,” “1000 Lb Best Friends,” and “Too Large.” Even after surgery, he helps his patients maintain the weight loss.
Dangerously Obese’s latest star, Molly, seeks to lose weight. Last time Molly visited Doctor Procter, she weighed 580 pounds. The bariatric surgeon wants her to get to 540 pounds. In a clip released by TLC, she is back for her weight check at his office. He wants to see if she has put in the work to lose weight before surgery to check her commitment to making changes.
Molly’s weight shows 535 pounds. She is joyful to see that she has lost 5 pounds, which is lower than her prescribed weight. Her sister cheers her on, and so does the doctor. He even high-fives Molly for the tremendous loss. “I’m so proud of you”, her sister says as she hugs her. Doctor Procter informs her that she can be scheduled for surgery next week.
Doctor Procter comments that all the hard work Molly is putting in is showing its results. He then feels that she is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He congratulates both Molly and her sister, saying that it will be a significant change. Both agree they are excited for the surgery and hopeful about how her life can change. Molly says she feels super proud of herself. This has boosted her confidence, making her feel like she can accomplish extraordinary things.
This clip is heartwarming, but sadly, Molly passed after seven months due to cardiac arrest. The surgery was successful, and Molly put in a great deal of effort. She had lost 200 pounds. The TLC episode aired and mentioned her death at the end of the episode. Molly’s story will forever be remembered. For latest Dangerously Obese’s updates, stay tuned to TV Season & Spoilers.
