Are The Contestants In Hyperdrive Real-Life Racers?

Executive producer Chris Cowan agreed to the fact that the contestants are indeed real-life racers. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Chris also told that the casting team searched different race tracks around the world for real-life drivers. Once they found all the 28 drivers, it was all about making the roads more difficult, but still safe.
Chris then told it was important for the drivers that their cars do precisely what they want it to do. Hence, it was incredibly important that the drivers drive their custom-built vehicles.
Chris added: “Modify your car, bring the fastest thing you can. We weren’t looking to restrict anyone’s speed. But it was a big concern and logistical issue for us.”
It looks like the production team, and the drivers themselves knew what they were doing, as season one of Hyperdrive was a massive success.
