Jon & Kate Plus 8: Kate Opens Up About ‘Life-Altering’ Injury

A few weeks ago, Kate Gosselin revealed the hospital admitted her. The Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum added that she suffered the injury while playing with her two German Shepherds. Gosselin said that, in terms of pain, it was as bad as kidney stone pain. “I’ve had kidney stones and this literally rated up there,” she added. In a live TikTok session, she shared her X-rays, and a CAT scan confirmed she had sustained a tibial plateau fracture.

A break in the flat upper section of the tibia (the bone running from the knee to the ankle) causes a tibial plateau fracture. Furthermore, she added that she underwent a three-hour surgery for the injury. Gosselin said the surgery left her with ‘plates and screws’ in her leg. She was not allowed to bear weight for the next three months.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 alum Kate Gosselin shared a ‘Day in My Life Now’ video on TikTok as she was discharged from the hospital. The video featured a slideshow of photos from her day, including taking pain medication, drinking coffee, showering, and cuddling with her dogs. However, what caught everyone’s eye was her shoutout to her boyfriend, Steve Neild.

She included a picture of her breakfast, which featured cereal and coffee. Kate wrote, “Breakfast made with extra love…by you know who.” Everyone guessed she was referring to her new beau, Steve. “Protein/Fiber cereal with Banana,” she added. Previously, on October 2, 2025, she shared that she had been discharged from the hospital.

In a TikTok video, she said, “I’ve had pain meds to make the ride more bearable.” She shared that they took all the stuff to the car first because she had accumulated some equipment and supplies. Kate said she couldn’t wait to go home, see the dogs, and get into her bed after her shower.

“When I get home I’m gonna sleep so well I already know it,” she said. She asked her fans to wish her luck as she began the next stage of her journey. “It’s all hitting me now getting discharged instructions,” Gosselin said.
