‘My 600-lb Life’: Angie’s Journey From Drug Abuse To Accepting A Rapist As ‘First Relationship’

Angela Marie Dunham-Johnna appeared on the 19th episode of the seventh season of My 600 Lb Life. It didn’t take much time for her to become one of the most hated My 600 Lb Life alums in the eyes of the show’s fans. Let’s take a look at the details.

My 600 Lb Life: Angela’s Journey Through Abuse

Angie weighed 643 lbs during her first appearance on the show. Her daughter Desiree and husband Justin took care of her. On the show, we saw that her husband and daughter were helping her out and taking care of her. However, the way she spoke to them didn’t go well with My 600 Lb Life fans. Moreover, her lack of gratitude towards the help and care further tipped fans off.

Angie was badly treated while growing up which gave rise to her eating disorder. At the tender age of 13, she got raped which resulted in a pregnancy. Considering that she wasn’t in a position to provide an upbringing to her child, the My 600 Lb Life star gave up the baby for adoption. She revealed that she thought that her first official relationship was the one she had with her rapist due to their bond.

Angie’s Relationship With Her Drug Addict Mom

Angie confided in her mom about her molestation. Unfortunately, she didn’t pay any heed to it and let it slide. The fact that Angie’s mom was a drug addict made things worse. The mother-daughter duo never had a good relationship, to begin with. The fact that Angie didn’t receive any love or care during her early years made her consider food as a coping mechanism.

My 600 Lb Life: Angie’s Journey On The Show

After Angie put on a lot of weight, she decided to seek help from Dr. Nowzaradan. He gave her a diet plan to reduce weight. But even though Angie claimed that she was following Dr. Now’s advice, her weight didn’t reduce. After a while, Dr. Now found out that she was taking drugs. Angie denied any claims of drug abuse.

However, when she underwent a drug test, the My 600 Lb Life star got caught in her lie. When the show came to a halt, Dr. Now didn’t approve her for weight loss surgery as Angie lost only 48 lbs. However, fans got a bit confused when she started a GoFundMe page. They thought that she got approval for the surgery. However, the My 600 Lb Life alum needed money to stay in Houston.
