As he had no experience with handcuffs, he called an expert to inspect them. The expert stated that he spent most of his adult life working as a locksmith. Looking at the handcuffs, Rick questioned, “What the hack are those things? They’re like really disturbing.”

The engraved date helped the seller confirm that someone had made the handcuffs in 1925. The expert, Mark, revealed that manufacturers produced only a few items like these before discontinuing them. When Mark asked about the seller’s purchase price, he was shocked to learn that the item had been bought for $100 as a gag gift for his daughter’s boyfriend. As an expert, he knew that at any auction, the handcuffs would have cost around $3,500 to $4,000. The guest was equally surprised to hear that. “The moment I heard the expert say they were worth $3,500, I almost fainted,” the seller added.
