Pawn Stars boss Rick Harrison rarely spends a fortune on anything. If he really likes something authentic, he doesn’t think twice before buying it. However, his old habit of bargaining never changes. While he is known for finding extraordinary items, he sometimes loses rare ones because of his low offers. Still, what happens if Rick wants to make a deal and the seller rejects it?
Well, this has happened plenty of times. Harrison has lost many great deals because of his low offers. Once, a guest brought an old photograph to the pawn shop. Although Harrison was ready to offer $7,000 for the picture, the seller declined. But why didn’t the guest sell an old photograph for such a reasonable price? Keep reading to find out why.

Pawn Stars boss Rick Harrison is truly unpredictable. He amazes everyone after spending hundreds on items no one expects him to buy. Once, a guest brought an interesting item to the show: a toilet seat. However, it was not a regular one; it was specially designed for NASA astronauts. The guest said, “This is a NASA space shuttle toilet seat.” The hole in the seat was much smaller than that of a standard toilet seat.
The guest explained that this design was deliberate to prevent leakage and achieve a tight seal. He said he wanted $400 for the item, with a minimum of $100. Later, Harrison called in an expert to confirm its authenticity and determine the exact market value. The expert also revealed that the seat never made it into space because it was a prototype. Later, he said he would pay $200 for it. However, they closed the deal at $300.
Once, a guest brought an old photograph to Pawn Stars. The picture featured the iconic MLB team, the Boston Red Sox, from the 1915 season. The image was captured during Babe Ruth’s legendary rookie year, making it truly exceptional. Babe Ruth was 20 years old at the time. Finding such pictures is extremely rare these days. The guest said he wanted $12,500 for the photograph.

Undoubtedly, the item was authentic, as it had a PSA sticker. Still, Harrison had some doubts. He wasn’t sure of its value because the seal on the laminated cover had been broken. To be sure about the value, he called in an expert. When the expert arrived, he cleared up the misconception about the seal, explaining that such items do not need to be in a sealed casing. The expert added that it is entirely up to the owner whether it is sealed or open.
The sticker could have been either on the casing or on the item itself. In this case, it was on the item, which proved its authenticity. The expert further said that it was worth nearly $10,000. However, this price was slightly lower than what the guest had asked for. True Pawn Stars fans know that Harrison always tries to buy items at a much lower price. Rick said he would offer $7,000 for the photograph.
The guest lowered his asking price to $11,000, but Harrison refused to budge. Then he said he would accept $8,500 for the picture, but Rick still said no. “I’ve come down. You haven’t bumped up, not even a nickel,” the guest said. The pawn shop owner said he wouldn’t change his offer, and the guest walked out without making a deal.
