Sister Wives fans are well aware of the rocky relationships Kody Brown has with his older children. A few days ago, he revealed that he wants to work on these relationships and be close to all his kids again. Brown also suggested that moving to a new place might be a step in that direction. However, his daughter, Mykelti Padron, does not feel the same. She previously said that in such a case, she would have taken action to make things right between herself and her children.

Sister Wives: Mykelti Shares How Fame ‘Morphed’ Her Father’s Personality

From time to time, Sister Wives star Mykelti has spoken openly about her troubled relationship with her father. Last year, she shared that, in her view, the show’s fame brought about a significant change in her father’s personality. She said she believes the show changed him a lot. “He used to be more like, ‘I understand, I did wrong. I would like to do better,'” she explained.

Padron added that the show ‘morphed’ Kody. She said she no longer recognizes her father, as that is not the Kody Brown she was raised with. “That Kody Brown is ‘Kody Brown from Sister Wives.’ That is not Kody Brown, my dad,” she added. The mother of three also said that it is complicated to see him have those fights and arguments, as she doesn’t understand them.

Sister Wives: Mykelti Says Kody’s Love Was Conditional

In a recent Q&A session on Patreon with her mother, Christine, and stepdad, David, Sister Wives star Mykelti spoke about the changes her brothers and sisters have experienced over the past few years. Fans are well aware that Kody is estranged from most of his adult children. Mykelti added that her father made all his adult kids earn his love. She further said, “I think it was just, like, he just loved us [as kids].”

Mykelti admitted that, as they all got older, they realized his love for his kids had become more conditional. “The older we got, it was conditional up to how much we respect him and were willing to fork over what we want, for him,” she added. The mother of three said that Kody wanted his kids to ‘perform’ for him. She explained that Brown wished all his kids would listen to him and do everything his way.

Furthermore, David was amazed that all the Brown kids really had to earn Kody’s love. She replied, “Right?! Interesting, huh?” David then added that he loves his kids and that they do not have to earn his love. He also said that Kody should be appreciative and thankful that he got to have kids, instead of making them earn his love. Mykelti also disclosed how Kody had to earn the privilege of getting a Claddagh ring from him. (Kody would give his daughters a Claddagh ring when they become teenagers.)

Christine was shocked to hear that Kody never bought a Claddagh ring for her daughter. Mykelti said she eventually got one because she purchased it for herself. “I was told you got yours,” Christine added. She also noted that Robyn told her Kody had bought a ring for Mykelti.
