‘Sister Wives’: Robyn Brown Says She Don’t Want Any Sister Wives To Be Married To Kody

In the preview clip of the upcoming Sister Wives episode, we can see that Meri has found Robyn’s marriage certificate. It seems like the two women are laughing it off like it isn’t a big deal. But there was a time that piece of paper created some chaos. Let’s take a look at this in detail.

Sister Wives: Robyn Tells Her She Will Burn Her Marriage Certificate

Robyn told Meri that she will burn hers and Meri should burn her marriage certificate. Meri legally divorced Kody about four years ago so that he could adopt Robyn’s kids. Even though the Brown family follows the concept of spiritual marriage, Meri chose to keep her marriage certificate. At the time, Robyn brushed it off saying that she was just teasing.

In a confessional, Robyn later says that the state allows only one legal marriage in a plural family. She goes on to say that since there is no way for everyone to be a legal wife, she prefers a scenario in which none of them is a legal wife. Her mom was a second wife and she had always struggled with the fact that she didn’t get the recognition a wife should get.

Sister Wives: Robyn Thinks Legal Marriages Destroy Plural Families

According to Robyn, legal marriages can have a negative impact on plural marriages. This might be the reason why she thinks that both her and Meri should burn their marriage certificates. However, Meri is not able to move on from her past. She feels like the entire family is sometimes against her. Even though things have been getting better but we know for a fact that the family never recovered from Meri’s catfishing scandal.

Even though Meri and Kody have been going for therapy, their marriage never recovered from the blow. The reason Meri might be so adamant on keeping her marriage certificate is that it reminds her of a simpler time with Kody.

Sister Wives: The Family Remains Strong

Despite all the stress of moving around and family politics, it seems like the Browns have stayed intact throughout. Even though it looked like Meri was about to separate from the clan, she has stuck around even though her relationship with Kody is not the same. At one point, Meri and Robyn became so close that they figured out it was Kody who was trying to pit them against one another.

Even though legal marriages don’t matter to the Brown family, when Meri divorced Kody, it had a negative impact on their relationship. She kept on feeling aloof and eventually fell prey for a catfishing scandal. Meri stated that she decided to keep the marriage certificate as it had followed her heart.

Meri and Robyn both agree that the change of the legal marital status makes sense as Kody had to adopt Robyn’s kids. After a long time, it’s nice to see the wives getting along, something the fans weren’t able to see for a long time.
