Smollett denied all the accusations and insisted that he was innocent.

In late 2021, authorities revealed that Smollett had filed a false police report and found him guilty of misconduct. In March 2022, the court sentenced him to 150 days in jail, 30 months of probation, and ordered him to pay restitution. Before entering the show, he revealed why he chose to participate. Jussie said that he had been through a great deal, and it had been very public. “I was called a liar, with everybody believing something that was not true. This feels like a reset,” he added.

That was the reason he was coughing so badly. They also informed him that it had caused severe lung inflammation. Unfortunately, his health condition led to his elimination. But no one expected that watching him break down in the medical room would be so heart-wrenching. He had a past, but his determination to prove himself to the world brought him on the show. While his entry raised many questions, his exit definitely left many in tears.
