Once prepped for their first challenge, the team divided the recruits into two squads—Alpha and Bravo. Their task was to haul supplies up and down a steep hill. The intensity of the mission quickly took its toll, leaving Johnny, Jussie, and several others completely exhausted.

Gia called it off, and her team later lost the challenge. The show ordered them back to the camp base. However, it was Brittany Cartwright who quit, becoming the first contestant to be sent home. Furthermore, once everyone had settled down, friendships began to form. Everyone was mingling with each other, and Kody and Jussie seemed to get along pretty well.
