In the latest episode of Teen Mom star Kailyn Lowry’s podcast, she invited The Challenge alum Jemmye Carroll, and the two sat down together to share their perspectives on different reality TV shows. Both reality TV stars shared their thoughts about MTV, discussing both the positive and negative aspects of the network. Recently, the mother of seven celebrated her twins’ second birthday.
Lowry also shared a beautiful video with a voiceover in which she opened up about her time with Verse and Valley. While the circus-themed party looked amusing, her heartfelt words made everything even more special. Now, Jemmye has revealed what she thinks is wrong with the MTV competition show. What did Kailyn add to the discussion? Keep reading to find out.

Teen Mom alum Kailyn Lowry asked Challenge star Jemmye Carroll about her backup plan. She wondered what Carroll’s plan was once she decided to leave the show. Carroll revealed that she has a reasonably solid backup plan. She admitted that she had planned to attend law school before being cast on The Real World. However, she said she is happy her original plan changed and that she ended up doing reality shows.
On the other hand, Kailyn added that at times she wonders what the right ‘exit strategy’ might be for reality TV stars. Lowry has asked many of her co-stars about their plans after the show ended. “You don’t have a degree, y’all don’t have investments, y’all don’t have a financial advisor, what are y’all doing?” she said. Lowry left Teen Mom back in 2022.
Recently, on the Barely Famous podcast, Teen Mom Kailyn Lowry called Jemmye Carroll, and they shared their thoughts on different perspectives of MTV shows. Jemmye said that the show used to cast people from ‘The Real World’ and ‘Road Rules.’ However, over time, random people started to appear on the show. She stated that the show hasn’t been the same since.
Carroll further noted that she would have liked to see more stars from other MTV reality shows. She added that if Kailyn and Mike from ‘Jersey Shore’ had stayed in the Challenge house, ‘that would have been a wet dream for MTV.’ The two further discussed the filming schedules of their respective shows. Kailyn stated that Teen Mom used to film two seasons a year.
Furthermore, Jemmye quipped that the hit franchise took all the money from the network. She added that ‘Challenge’ has already aired 10 seasons. And the competitors earn around $90,000 to $100,000 before taxes are deducted. Carroll said that it is not consistent income. However, the show allows its participants to live a more private life. She added that life is easier for them than for those who appear on other shows.
She also revealed that she took a three-year break from the show after her late ex, Ryan Knight, passed away in 2014. However, she said there might be ‘too much PTSD’ to return to The Challenge. But she would like to make an appearance on Big Brother. Keep coming back to TV Season & Spoilers for more Teen Mom updates and tea.
