The Bachelorette: Premieres On October 13, Wraps Bubble Production

The Bachelorette is in and ahead of its October 13 premiere. Meanwhile, ABC is readying to begin with production on its parent show The Bachelor later this month. One of the showrunners, Rob Mills, revealed that the show would start production at the end of September with aiming to air in January as per previous years. Let’s dig in to know more details about the same.

Showrunner Rob Mills Talks About Filming The Bachelor

The Bachelorette

Rob Mills, SVP, Alternative Series, Specials & Late-Night Programming, ABC Entertainment, shared that the show will run on a similar timeline to previous seasons. The last 12 seasons of the show began airing at the start of the new year. He further added that production would happen in a pandemic-proof bubble, similar to The Bachelorette. This will ensure that one of the biggest non-scripted series can get on the air! Mills shared that he was happy to note that ‘The Bachelorette’ which wrapped on September 1, was able to finish production without any COVID-19 related incidents.

Signature Shows Of ABC Releasing This Fall

Rob explained that when they started filming around July 4, news that other productions had had outbreaks even in a bubble had to shut down. In that case, the end turned out to be a victory for the team. He further added that the production is happy to see that they have an entire season of The Bachelorette that will air. It is fantastic to see all the signature shows airing in the fall.

James Would Be The First Black Romantic Lead

THE BACHELOR – (ABC/Craig Sjodin) MATT JAMES

Mills shared that although there were no off-screen health and safety issues, this season of The Bachelorette promises to come up with a few surprises. Following this would be Matt James and his season of The Bachelor. The network revealed in June that James would head the 2021 version of the reality show. He would be the show’s first Black romantic lead. Rob Mills shared that The Bachelor would follow a similar production set-up employed on The Bachelorette. However, he added, the team would be more happy to be able to travel to locations and shoot there.

Next Entertainment produces the Bachelor and The Bachelorette in association with Warner Horizon Unscripted Television.
