Vanderpump Rules: Tom Sandoval Feels America’s Got Talent Redeemed His Image

Tom Sandoval, who was once labeled “the most hated man in America” during the Vanderpump Rules “Scandoval” scandal, discusses his journey on America’s Got Talent. He said the show helped shift his perception in the public eye. While he performed with his band, he told AGT that it made audiences see him in a new light. He added that he was doing what he truly loves.

Sandoval admitted that he had struggled with mental health after the breakup, but his AGT audition has been incredibly uplifting. “It’s nerve-racking and scary at times,” he said, “but it’s been worth it. I’m so grateful and so happy I did it.” The band’s version of A-ha’s “Take on Me” got approval from all four judges, and Sofia Vergara said it made her happy.

Vanderpump Rules Star Tom Sandoval Responds To AGT Judges’ Criticism

Former Bravo star Tom Sandoval first made his debut on AGT in June, performing a cover of A-ha’s “Take on Me.” After that, the band Tom Sandoval & The Most Extra performed the cover of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” on the quarterfinals of America’s Got Talent. All the judges, including Howie Mandel, Mel B, and Sofía Vergara, applauded for his energy. Still, Simon Cowell cut in, pressing the buzzer halfway and saying, “That did not sound good, I’m afraid.”

Tom tried to explain that his in-ear monitors had cut out just before the performance. It left him “flying in the dark.” Though when Mel B said he was making excuses, he said he wasn’t covering for the shaky delivery. Rather, he stressed, “I had a blast.” While discussing his “Take on Me” performance, Tom described it as one of the toughest he had ever done. He never thought he would be able to get the notes right. After rigorous training with vocal coaches, he felt a sense of accomplishment and the urge to perform.

Tom also spoke about his reason for auditioning for AGT. He said his band members stood by him during the 2023 Scandoval controversy. “It definitely was scary, but really exciting, and I’m really, really happy I did it,” he said. Sandoval is entirely focused on his music and looks forward to expanding his reach with AGT’s platforms. What do you think? Do let us know in the comments section.
