Where Is Angie J From ‘My 600-lb Life’ Is Now?

Angie J has been one of the most controversial cast members on My 600 Lb Life. The show is meant to give a chance to people suffering from morbid obesity so that they can improve the quality of their lives. Many people have come and gone and met their weight loss targets on the show.

Getting eligible for bariatric surgery is not a child’s play. It takes a certain amount of dedication from the patient’s end to reach the weight needed to be eligible for the surgery. In Angie’s case, not only did she refuse to follow diet plans, she even called Dr. Now’s advice bull***t. Let’s take a look at her journey and where she is now.

My 600 Lb Life: Angie J’s Journey With Dr. Now

Angela Marie Dunham-Johns weight 643 Lbs when she decided that it was time to turn her life around. At the age of 39, Angie decided that she needs to improve her lifestyle. Even though there was no shortage of obstacles, the My 600 Lb Life alum has a supportive husband who had her back.

Like most other My 600 Lb Life alums, Angie had an extremely tragic backstory which pushed her to seek comfort from food. Her husband wanted to see her make progress and have a good life. But she reached this far after suffering some extremely horrific incidents. When she was a child, a family friend molested her. But when she tried to confide in her mom, she brushed it off. The fact that Angie’s mother was a drug addict didn’t make things any easier.

My 600 Lb Life: Angie Raped At The Age of Thirteen

When Angie turned 13, she got raped by a 27-year-old. She described it as her first relationship. However, she got pregnant and had to endure childbirth only to give her baby away. The entire experience prompted her to turn food into a major coping mechanism. She quickly gained weight after that and turned to Dr. Now for help.

However, she refused to follow the exercise plans and diet and often got angry. Dr. Now stated that she had been on drugs from the way she slurred words. Later, when they tested her, it got proved that she had been smoking marijuana all this time.

As a result, the My 600 Lb Life star lost only 49 lbs in eight months. But her journey didn’t end there. After she was no longer a part of the program, she didn’t end her weight loss journey. In September 2019, she managed to get a weight loss surgery from elsewhere. So, it’s clear that she lost a lot of weight before and after her surgery.
