Coronation Street Star Claire Sweeney Takes A Brief Break From Soap

Claire Sweeney, the Cassie Plummer actress from Coronation Street, is taking a little break from the show. But why? Well, she is off to film another TV show. According to sources, the actress is flying to Malta for a week to shoot The Good Ship Murder.

She is all set to reprise her role as Beverley Carnell, the entertainment manager on the Channel 5 series. Recently, a close source said, “Claire’s taking a short break from Corrie to film.” It added that her getaway won’t affect anything on Coronation Street. 

The source confirmed that everything has been arranged, so there will be no on-screen disruption. Previously, Claire happily revealed to Cheshire Life that she’s signed a new contract for another year on Corrie. She is thrilled to continue playing Cassie in Coronation Street.

Actress Describes Her ‘Dream Come True’ Moment

The actress mentioned she is excited about pouring all my time and energy into this character and seeing where it takes her. She added, “I couldn’t be happier about the acting scenes I have done recently with Dame Maureen Lipman in the Rovers and with Alan Halsall and Jennie McAlpine in the Dobbs household.

The soap actress recalled her highlight of the Coronation Street journey. She expressed that she will never forget her first big scene with Maureen. It was a whopping 14 pages long, and her character was in the hospital. She labeled the experiment as a ‘dream come true.’

Claire also praised the writing and direction of that Coronation Street episode. Additionally, the show The Good Ship Murder just got renewed for not one but two more seasons, plus a special for Christmas 2024. The cast includes Shayne Ward, Catherine Tyldesley Kate Woods, and Ross Adams.
