Emmerdale mourns the loss of its former cast, Richard Howard. The soap will always remember Howard as its vicar Bob, who did leave a huge mark on the show and its fans. However, his legacy extends beyond just soap opera stardom. Richard left behind rich contributions to television, radio, and the theatre world. The soap star even earned an Oliver Award in his career. The actor’s family includes his son, three stepdaughters, and nine grandchildren. Emmerdale Loses One Its Stars, Richard Howard Dies At 79

An ex-Emmerdale star, Richard Howard, took his last breath at the age of 79 on January 29. The ITV soap fans can recall his character, vicar Bob Jerome, who appeared between 1979 and 1981 for twenty episodes. Even though he was a part of the soap for a brief period, his performance did leave a huge mark. An official statement from his source stated, “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved client, Richard Howard, at the age of 79, after a short illness.” It added, “He is survived by his son, three stepdaughters, and nine grandchildren.”

The former Emmerdale actor was a part of Agatha Christie’s Poirot’s ‘Four and Twenty Blackbirds in 1989 as George Lorrimer. The soap star was also seen playing the role of doctor in the TV series David Copperfield and Doctor Critchley in Oliver Twist. In addition, Howards played Lord Liverpool in the BBC Radio 4 play The People’s Princess.

Moreover, Richard’s talent was beyond just soaps like Emmerdale or TV, he had several theatre credits on his name. The actor’s theatre contributions include Shakespeare in Love, which is an Oliver Award nominated. He even did a stage tour for William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, Macbeth, and Romeo and Juliet across America, Europe, and Asia.

To add, one of his plays, Stanley, won the Oliver Award at the National Theatre. The Emmerdale former even contributed towards raising awareness for social issues like racism. As he staged Blues for Mr Charlie, based on racial oppression in the US. We will forever remember Richar’s legacy, and we send our heartfelt condolences to his family & friends.
