Over a decade ago, A character named Franco made an appearance on General Hospital. A decade after that character is still on the show but with a new face. Here is the whole story behind the character’s making. How James Franco that actor who played it initially helped in the creation of the character.

James Franco Was Satirical and Spoof On General Hospital

Back in 2009 when James Franco joined the show, he was at the peak of his career. He had specifically looked out for soap opera roles. He and Steve Burton shared the same agent. Steve Burton was the same man who portrays Jason Morgan on the show. So, owing to it all, James decided to come onboard. His character was also ironically called Franco. He initially came in for only 20 episodes and was called the “special guest star”.

After appearing on the show from the span of late 2009 and early 2010, he came back for a summer run later in the same year. After that, he came back to the show in February 2011 for some episodes. Then from September 2011 to January 2012, he played the character for the last time. The time when he was playing his character on General Hospital, he was also a part of the primetime spin-off: General Hospital Night Shift.

After all that, he decided to turn his character performance in an art show and a film that later premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Several critics and writers thought that his performance was satirical and spoof.

James Wanted Franco To Be Crazy and Artistic

Fans who have been following the show would remember how Franco’s character was introduced. He was an artist who was also a sociopath and a murder. Franco himself created the character along with GH writers. In an interview, he revealed that he wanted the whole treatment. He wanted to be an artist who was crazy.

In some other interviews, he said that Franco is an artist who is working with death. There are various ways he works. Graffiti, performances, photographs, he has done it all. Franco is someone who creates installation inspired by the murder scenes and murders he is involved in. He wants to push boundaries both ethically and aesthetically. He is ready to do anything to achieve that.

When Franco came to Port Charles, he kind of created havoc. He was even obsessed with Jason Morgan. In his time there he had kidnapped Carly Corinthos, Maxie Jones, Sam McCall and even played with Jason by implanting a bomb. He goes away but comes back in town and attack Michael Corinthos. He exhibits too but only to mess with Jason, again. Along with all this, he has also bombed Brenda Barrett and Sonny Corinthos’ wedding limo.

After that, he follows Sam and Jason to their honeymoon. He even tricks them in believing that he had raped Sam. For some period, fans even started believing that Franco and Jason are fraternal twin brothers. However, later it was clear that nothing of that sort is true. Jason kills the man. Now, he has come back alive although with a new face. Roger Howarth from One Life to Live is portraying the role.

When Howarth stepped into the role, a lot of how his storyline was written was revised. He made Jason and Sam believed that he had raped her but did not let Michael suffer in the prison.

Sooner or later, it for sure will come out that Franco had a brain tuner. All the changes in his personality were because of it. The tumor was also the reason for him committing all those atrocities he had given everyone on Port Charles. It is also out that he is Heather Webber and Scott Baldwin’s child.
