Some time ago, The Young and the Restless actor Jason Thompson revealed that Michael Mealor was leaving the soap opera. While he soon deleted the tweet, the speculations about Michael’s exit started making rounds. Now, the actor himself has cleared all the air. Mealor, who plays the character of Kyle Abbott on the soap opera, recently took onto his social media to announce that he is indeed leaving The Young and the Restless. He says that the last three and a half years have been a humbling and life-changing experience for him. And he wouldn’t have been there if his fans and castmates hadn’t supported him through this journey.
Posting a series of pictures on social media, Mealor thanked everyone for their support. He says that from appearing on National TV in his birthday suit to digging graves for DNA, his fans and castmates have been there with him for every engagement and every heartbreak. He is very thankful to everyone. Michael also thanked everyone for letting him be Kyle Abbott. Mealor sent a lot of love towards everyone through this post. Check it out here-
As soon as Michael posted these pictures, his fans and castmates started reacting. Eileen Davidson, who plays Ashley on Y&R, says that she loves him so much. And she had a lot of fun working with him. She says that Mealor is an incredible actor and magnificent things await him. Referring to his earlier tweet, Thompson said that “Billy is always working on the angles”. He called Michael an absolute gem and says that he enjoyed all the scenes they did together.
We don’t yet know when Michael would leave the show, but it looks like he will leave soon. His on-screen partner- Summer (Hunter King), who is also speculated to be leaving the soap opera, has already moved to Italy. So, as the speculations have it, it is possible that Kyle might move to Italy too, and they will have a happy ending there.
But, we will have to wait to see what really happens. Michael Mealor and Hunter King have been playing Kyle and Summer’s character for a few years now. They are a fan-favorite couple. So, it will be interesting to see how The Young and the Restless writes them out. But when Summer and Kyle leave, it will leave a huge hole in the soap opera. They will be missed dearly.
