Altered Carbon Season 2: 2020 Release Date, Will Yun Lee Returns!

Netflix

We’ve all have waited for way too long for Altered Carbon Season 2 to return. Luckily, it’s finally time. The critically acclaimed series is all ready to back at our Netflix screens. However, this installment will be a lot different than the debut one. We’ll come across plenty of twists and turns and a whole lot of new faces for sure. As of now, here’s everything we know about the upcoming season.
Altered Carbon debuted back in February 2018, to create a lot of buzz amongst the Netflix subscribers. The series is highly appreciated by critics and has a massive fanbase hoping to get another season. Show creator Laeta Kalogridis introduces us to a futuristic San Francisco called Bay City. We are now 360 years forward in time in 2384, where people’s memories and consciousness can be easily tampered with. Furthermore, the show set the base of its story around the phenomena of an artificial body called a “sleeve,” dies, and their “stack” can be carried to new bodies. Well, theoretically, this indicated that one person could live permanently.

Altered Carbon Season 2: Renewal & Production Updates

Laeta Kalogridis’ Altered Carbon turned out to be a huge critical and commercial success for the streaming giant. Soon after its debut, the demand for a second round rose. Hence, Netflix ended up renewing the series a few months after Season 1 premiere. However, the production team took a long hiatus to begin filming.
The cast and crew took months to be on set after the July 2018 renewal. The productions began earlier this year in February 2019. Most of the new cast members soon joined the shoot, as well. In fact, the actors posted some pictures while filming for the second season. By Summers 2019, Altered Carbon Season 2 was all set to go under post-productions.

Will Yun Lee Returns!

The story of the series mainly revolves around Takeshi Kovacs, a former Envoy, and his misadventures in the 2384’s world. Actor Joel Kinnaman used to play the character in the debut season. However, Anthony Mackie is now recast for the role in place of Kinnaman. Mackie is popular for his Avengers movies and previously appeared on Netflix’s Black Mirror.
While Joel Kinnaman used to play the new world’s Takeshi Kovacs, we saw Will Yun Lee as his original version. Upon Anthony Mackie’s recruitment, fans were afraid that Yun Lee might leave the show ahead of season one. However, the actor recently revealed that he actually would return to Altered Carbon Season 2. As of now, it’s not clear what character he will play, but it’s likely to see him as Takeshi’s original version again.
